Modern Missionary: It’s not what it seems
During Global Missionary Orientation, our group of freshly called missionaries discussed the negative stereotypes about the term: missionary. I often cringe when I’m put into that category and I usually am really selective about what language I use when I describe what I’m doing in South Africa.
Meet our new Missionary!
As of January 1, 2016 St. Jacob’s will begin supporting a new missionary. Allison Westerhoff serves as Communications Specialist of the Lutheran Communion in Southern Africa. Allison received her B.A. in Communications from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA. Her home synod is the Sierra Pacific Synod. Allison enjoys playing guitar, horseback riding, reading Jane Austen, writing poetry and interpretive dancing. Her birthday is August 1.
