Modern Missionary: It’s not what it seems
During Global Missionary Orientation, our group of freshly called missionaries discussed the negative stereotypes about the term: missionary. I often cringe when I’m put into that category and I usually am really selective about what language I use when I describe what I’m doing in South Africa.
Meet our new Missionary!
As of January 1, 2016 St. Jacob’s will begin supporting a new missionary. Allison Westerhoff serves as Communications Specialist of the Lutheran Communion in Southern Africa. Allison received her B.A. in Communications from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA. Her home synod is the Sierra Pacific Synod. Allison enjoys playing guitar, horseback riding, reading Jane Austen, writing poetry and interpretive dancing. Her birthday is August 1.

Stores are lining their aisles with Christmas goodies and decor, TV shows have switched to the theme of giving and love, and Santas are starting to float about. And why shouldn't they, after all it is that time, the meaning of the season, right?

Blessing of our New Organ
First purchased over 37 years ago, St. Jacob's organ has undergone many repairs and patches to keep it in good shape to serve us every Sunday. The purchase of a new organ was first explored over 5 years ago and at the time, it was decided to place the purchase on hold.
