For the 2008-2009 Sunday School year, our Junior High Sunday school program has exciting discussions on prayer, the events of the New Testament and how we live as Christians in a very busy and often secular world.
Our Junior High class is taught by Don Richeson and Gail Martino and is an in-depth study of the Bible over the course of two years. Don and Gail have been team-teaching this class for over 15 years and have a wonderful relationship with the kids! Their primary goal is to stress the fundamentals of the Bible and Christianity in order to help prepare teens for the challenges they face in daily life. The class is encouraged to raise questions and concerns about Christianity and has some great times of discussion.
Confirmation instruction is taught by Pastor Schafer. This 2 1/4 year program begins in the fall of the 7th grade year, with Confirmation Sunday being on Reformation Sunday of the 9th grade year. This in-depth study of the Christian life includes an examination of the Old and New Testaments; Martin Luther's Small Catechism (Lord's Prayer, 10 Commandments and Apostles' Creed) as well as a survey of world religions.
In 2008-09 the focus will be on the 10 Commandments, Old Testament and World Religions. A winter retreat at Camp Mowana is planned for February. The class meets approximately twice a month on Thursdays from 5:45-7:15pm. Questions about Confirmation Instruction should be directed to Pastor Schafer
